When we began this journey in 1997, we made a promise to Chicago's homeless pets: that PAWS would work to end the unnecessary killing each year of tens of thousands of helpless cats and dogs.

Suffering from an eye ulcer and a broken femur, this 3-month-old kitten was scheduled to be euthanized at another shelter. Now, he’s healing and making friends in a loving foster home.
