John,

Yesterday, I found out that a far-right supporter of the January 6 insurrection is trying to bring a gun show to Newtown.

Jim Worthington — owner of the Newtown Athletic Club and major donor to Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick — spent thousands of dollars and organized busloads of Trump supporters to attend the “Stop the Steal” rally that turned into a violent insurrection at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.

The FBI even showed up at his house, and afterward he bragged on the radio that his girlfriend grabbed a gun before talking to the FBI. He later called his “friend” Fitzpatrick for legal advice.

Now, this guy is trying to bring a gun show to Newtown. Worthington wants to host this gun show using the company Eagle Shows, which is known for selling the same type of tactical gear that rioters on January 6th used, in addition to guns.

We witnessed violent insurrectionists storm the Capitol wearing tactical gear meant to look like military fatigues (imitating the kind I wore when serving in combat overseas with the U.S. Army) and carrying military-style weapons. An event like this put on by a major funder of this attack on our democracy is the last thing our community needs.

In order to hold this event, Worthington will need a variance from the Zoning Hearing Board, so a Board of Supervisors meeting was held last night, and I attended to speak out against it.

Watch my statement against this gun show, then pitch in $10 or more to help me defeat Fitzpatrick and his extremist party in November so I can defend our democracy in Congress.

We can’t let far-right extremists continue to infiltrate our communities here in PA-01, and when I’m in Congress, I will do everything in my power to stop them.
