** EPA Gordon Plaza Partnership
------------------------------------------------------------
Last week, Mayor Cantrell got the chance to sit down with Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Michael Regan to discuss plans for redeveloping Gordon Plaza into a solar farm so we can increase the city’s power resilience and simultaneously protect the best interest of current Gordon Plaza residents.
On January 26th, Mayor Cantrell announced a partnership with the Environmental Protection Agency to make years of Gordon Plaza residents' hopes become reality. The decades of calls for relocation have been answered by Mayor Cantrell's administration. The first step of the project will be to hire a third party to assist in an assessment of the properties.
"The City of New Orleans is proud to partner with the EPA to finally bring resolution to the residents of Gordon Plaza," said Mayor Cantrell "After consecutive mayoral administrations left this issue to be resolved by the next generation, my administration is committed to creating a solution that is a win-win-win for the City, for the residents, and for our federal infrastructure and climate goals."

"This is not just a one-time collaboration, but the start of a long-term commitment to uplift cultural institutions in the community for years to come," said Mayor Cantrell. "Our culture bearers were hit hard due to the pandemic, & the way we bring NOLA back is by supporting them in any way we can!"

------------------------------------------------------------
On January 25th, New Orleans Saints Head Coach Sean Payton announced his retirement after 16 years with the franchise.
"Payton delivered the first-ever Super Bowl to the City of New Orleans, and for over 16 years, he made the Saints a force to be reckoned with," said Mayor LaToya Cantrell. "Thank you, Coach Payton, for all that you did for the WhoDat nation!"
Payton led the Saints to their Super Bowl XLIV victory and was selected as AP Coach of the Year in 2006.
** Litter Penalties
------------------------------------------------------------
Recently, Mayor Cantrell issued a reminder to all residents and visitors in the City of New Orleans that littering will not be tolerated, and it is on each of us to keep NOLA clean!
"Littering is a blight on the City. This has a negative impact on our economy, safety, and overall quality of life. We ask residents and visitors not to litter in our City," said Mayor Cantrell.
** House America
------------------------------------------------------------
This past week, Mayor Cantrell signed onto the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development's House America initiative.
House America is an all-hands-on-deck effort to address the nation’s homelessness crisis. The program will utilize the historic investments provided through the American Rescue Plan to address the crisis of homelessness.
