Bad news for the bees: U.S. beekeepers just reported the greatest hive loss in 13 years.[1]
Last winter, nearly 40 percent of all honeybee colonies were lost, and bee-killing neonicotinoid pesticides are one of the biggest contributors to the destruction of bee colonies.[2]
Environment Colorado has launched a massive summer campaign called No Bees, No Food to inform the public about the dangers of bee-killing neonicotinoids and mobilize people to save the bees.

Bees are an essential part of the ecosystem and America's agriculture trade. One in three bites of food we take rely on pollinators like bees.[3] More and more pressure is being put on fewer and fewer bees to pollinate crops.
And this past year has been particularly bad for the bees.
The Trump administration reversed the ban on bee-killing pesticides in national wildlife refuges, potentially threatening bees on millions of acres.[4] New research showed that neonicotinoids not only harm bees, but hurt their ability to reproduce, threatening future generations.[5] And now we know that this past winter was particularly deadly for these precious pollinators.[6]
But the pesticide lobby has deep pockets to influence members of Congress and the White House.[7] We need to turn to other avenues for action, including the states, with as much grassroots energy as possible.
That's why Environment Colorado and our national network are sending out canvassers door-to-door around the country to educate people on why we need to save the bees.
We're still working to protect our national forests and stop offshore drilling, but right now, we need to make sure our No Bees, No Food campaign reaches as many people as possible.
