climate crisis every year. In 2021, four out of every ten Americans lived
in a county that experienced a climate disaster. In the last year, we saw
abnormally high temperatures, cold waves, and severe weather events like
hurricanes, floods, and wildfires.

That’s why Katie Porter has introduced legislation to protect our
environment and hold Big Oil and big polluters accountable. Her bills
would end subsidies that have allowed fossil fuel companies to profit at
the expense of taxpayers, and create an independent agency to study and
improve planning for natural disasters like wildfires.
