An update on COVID in NY-11

Dear ,

We have some sad news about how COVID is ripping through our district, and want to update you as to how bad the situation is.
* Since December 1st, another 288 of our NY-11 neighbors have died from COVID.
* The total COVID-related deaths in NY-11 has reached 3,378 people.
* That’s about 1,000 more people than it was when we held our #COVIDNicole rally in early September.
* 1,440 NY-11 neighbors were hospitalized between 12/15 and 1/11.
* NY-11’s only public hospital, Coney Island Hospital, has been overwhelmed by recent COVID admissions and has worn down the doctors, nurses, and medical staff that are still on the front lines.
* This past week, the United States Department of Defense was forced to send military health care professionals ([link removed].) to help relieve the pressure on the hospital’s strained staff.

For two years Nicole Malliotakis and her Republican colleagues have opposed mask mandates and other basic safety measures.

They have never modeled responsible pandemic behavior and this recent Omicron crisis in her district is the very predictable result of those actions ([link removed]) .

We’ve been watching her behave this way for years, and know Nicole will continue to pretend COVID isn’t serious because the truth doesn’t fit her far-right extremist agenda.

Her constituents are dying - to the extent that federal intervention was necessary and she hasn’t made a single comment about any of it.

Thanks to all this, we have one ask of you today:
* Let Nicole know she needs to stop helping COVID spread through our district. That means supporting mask mandates and speaking out about how we have the power to slow the spread of COVID.
