Monday marks the FIRST fundraising deadline of 2022 – our first critical benchmark of this election year.
The Fair Shot team and I have been keeping a close eye on the political landscape, and a lot has changed in the last couple of weeks.
Republicans are raising unprecedented amounts of money. They have gone nuclear on obstructing the Biden/Harris agenda, from Build Back Better to voting rights. And they are doubling down on their strategy of voter suppression and gerrymandering to lock in GOP wins no matter what.
This deadline will set the tone for the rest of 2022. Since the Democratic majority is so narrow, Republicans see a clear path to retaking the House and the Senate – that’s why they are investing so heavily in these shady tactics.
Democrats have to keep our eyes on the prize – which means we need the funding to register new voters, turn out our base, and spread the word about what Democrats in Congress are doing to deliver for the American people.
