Dear John,

This past week we recognized the 49th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, and a common question I’ve heard is – will there be a 50th? It’s a complex question and there’s a lot of uncertainty, but for an organization that’s been fighting for reproductive rights since the 80s, what we know for certain is that we will never stop until everyone has bodily autonomy. Until women’s voices and choices are heard, protected, and respected. No matter what happens with SCOTUS or other harmful legislation being passed, we know the very real, devastating effects that restricting abortion access has on people’s lives and to support the communities most impacted, we must bolster our efforts.

We’re taking action with partners and movement leaders today and every day until reproductive freedom is ours. This month we were proud to announce a $100K general operating grant to Access Reproductive Care-Southeast (ARC-SE), which is meeting the urgent need in Southern communities and eliminating barriers to abortion access. We’ve also joined the powerful coalition and campaign to Liberate Abortion, and there’s much more to come.

In solidarity,

Ruth McFarlane, Chief Advancement Officer

Ms. in the News

We had the opportunity to connect grantee partner, Santra Denis of Miami Workers Center, with Global Citizen for an in-depth profile about her work to create a more equitable world through housing justice and economic opportunity. The Ms. Foundation’s landmark Pocket Change report was also included in a recent MSNBC Reidout Blog article that discusses biases within philanthropy and what it means to truly invest in Black women.
