Methane Rules
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report released last year named methane as an extremely potent greenhouse gas—more than 80 times as powerful as carbon dioxide pollution1. Cutting methane emissions is the fastest way to slow our warming climate in the near term. Our lawyers, organizers, lobbyists, and activists have been fighting hard to cut methane from the oil and gas industry. The Environmental Protection Agency is reinforcing and expanding methane rules—but it's not nearly enough.

Endangered Species Act (ESA)
When the Trump administration removed ESA protections for gray wolves in the lower 48 states, they opened the floodgates for anti-wolf states to begin expanding the bloody death toll for wolves. The carnage started in states where wolves lost their protection first: Wisconsin hunters killed 218 wolves in just four days. Idaho and Montana loosened the rules to kill more wolves in more ways during more of the year. Now, it's no holds barred. Montana has a plan to kill 85 percent of their wolves. Idaho is ready to kill 90 percent and they're even hiring private contractors to do it! And with no protections for gray wolves, any other state can do the same. We need Congress to fully fund and strengthen ESA protections for wolves—and other endangered species threatened by uncontrolled
hunting, overdevelopment, and the climate crisis.

Build Back Better
This is the big one. Despite resistance from a few key Senators, this bill is still very much alive and we're putting everything into getting it passed—because it's a sweeping bill that would improve the lives of communities across the nation. It would replace over 5 million lead pipes to deliver clean water to families. It would convert more than 60,000 diesel school buses to electric so schoolchildren can breathe clean air. It will save Americans money on their energy bills and other monthly expenses, create good-paying union jobs, and build a healthier, more equitable clean energy future for every community.

The Tongass National Forest
The Biden administration's Department of Agriculture is reinstating Roadless Rule protections for the Tongass National Forest in Alaska, reversing a Trump-era attack that would have put the largest national forest in the U.S. at risk of destructive logging and road-building. This is a big win, but it was a close call—and the Tongass remains at risk of future administrations revoking these protections. We need strong legislation protecting the Tongass and all of our most valuable natural places permanently—
