[[link removed]][[link removed]]Dear John,
Today is the fifth anniversary of Trump’s Muslim Ban.
When then-President Trump signed the first executive order banning travelers from certain Muslim majority countries, our world descended into utter chaos. Countless people were stranded at airports, families were torn apart, and a sense of dread was felt by Muslim and communities of color in America. The Muslim ban separated families, promoted divisive rhetoric, normalized Islamophobia, scapegoated vulnerable refugees, and weakened our commitment to universal human rights.
From that awful day in January of 2017, we at Emgage dedicated ourselves to fighting this racist ban and all other forms of discrimination through voter mobilization and smart, principled advocacy. This is why we launched the Million Muslim Votes campaign in 2020 to mobilize a historic number of Muslim American voters.
We are proud that President Biden delivered on his promise to repeal the Muslim Ban. Here's a clip from our 'Million Muslim Votes Summit', when Joe Biden announced, for the first time, his commitment to repeal the ban "on day one."
But our work is not over. It is crucial that future presidents are not able to enact similar bans. This is why Emgage joined forces with civil rights organizations in support of the NO BAN Act to ensure that no future president is able to deny our rights with a stroke of a pen.

Since 2017, Emgage and partners have worked to garner support for this important legislation by:
Endorsing and advocating for the passage of the NO BAN Act by connecting constituents to members of Congress.
Submitting over 600 letters to members of Congress, urging them to repeal the ban.
Successfully advocating in-district to get all Democratic representatives in VA, MI, TX, FL, and PA to support the NO BAN Act.
Please consider contacting your senator to urge them to support this important legislation. The health of our communities and our democracy is at stake.
Urge your Senators to pass the NO BAN ActWe cannot do this work without your generous support. Please consider contributing to this and other similar initiatives that seek to educate, mobillize, and empower Muslim voters.
Sincerely,
Iman Awad
Deputy Director of Emgage Action
