Water Quality in focus: January saw a parliamentary committee slam government, water companies and regulators for turning a blind eye to river pollution and yet more damning revelations from the embattled Environment Agency. It's clear that radical action is needed when staff are being told to ignore 'low-impact' pollution events and whistle-blowers state the agency no longer deters polluters. Our #EndSewagePollution campaign is stepping up another level this year - watch this space for how you can get involved.
The Government is consulting on banning single-use plastic items in England. Help turn back the plastic tide choking the ocean and submit a response, using our easy guide. Collectively, we can force positive change for the ocean.
COP26 President Alok Sharma has responded to our 70,000 strong Ocean & Climate Emergency petition by trumpeting the UK's progress. But we know it's nowhere near enough. Join us in supporting the Climate Coalition's 'Show The Love' campaign in early Feb, to demand those in power act now.
Earlier this month, a thousand fin whales were spotted near the South Orkney Islands, a spot where, just last century, they were driven to near extinction. What an epic sight to behold and one to remind us what we're all fighting for ✊
