Dear John, On Veterans Day, we recognize the essential contributions of all veterans, no matter where they were born. The 12% of all living veterans who are either immigrants or children of immigrants bring their love of country, tremendous skills, talents, and energy to our military forces.
Unfortunately, as we write this, the Trump administration is removing protections for veterans—including denying them citizenship. They have ramped up enforcement proceedings against veterans and their families.
No service member—regardless of immigration status—should be left to the mercy of an ever-changing immigration system that disrespects their sacrifices for our country. This is but one example of why we work each day for a fair and just immigration system.
We promote the development of fair and rational immigration policies that reflect the fundamental American values veterans embody and fight for.
The need is urgent, the time is now. We ask that you join us as we work to preserve our country's unique immigration tradition and ensure justice for all. Sincerely, Beth Werlin Executive Director |

We work to shape how America thinks about immigration and acts towards immigrants. To work towards a more fair and just immigration system, the Council brings together four coordinated approaches to advance change—litigation, research, advocacy, and communications.
