Prospects for enacting the National Popular Vote bill in Virginia increased significantly as a result of Tuesday's state legislative elections there. The change of party will result in the removal of a vigorous opponent, who has been the chair of the committee blocking the bill.

During the past year, National Popular Vote's travelling representatives (aided by local representation) have met with almost every current Virginia legislator of both parties, various candidates who we thought might win, local grassroots supporters, Virginia organizations, and other people who influence legislators. The bill is ready for filing; sponsors have been lined up; and we are ready to go when the legislative session starts on January 8.

National Popular Vote is a non-profit corporation that can't do these things without supporters like you.
