News just broke that Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer is retiring.

The reality of today’s politics is the moment a spot opens on the high court, there is no time for reflection. Right-wing media and the GOP’s dark money donors go into hyperdrive, so we must also spring into action. And that moment of action is now.

When President Biden nominates a qualified person for the Supreme Court — and he will — Democrats must see them confirmed. Period.

Everything is on the line. Voting rights, workers’ rights, health care, a woman’s right to choose, our democracy, and so so much more.

When it comes to the Supreme Court, Mitch McConnell has no qualms about blocking nominees. Or ramming through his picks as we saw most recently with Amy Coney Barrett. (Let’s not forget she was sworn in just 8 days before the 2020 election, when over 65 million votes were already cast in an election Trump lost.)

So right now – we must be forceful and act swiftly to make sure that Biden’s nominee will be confirmed. Otherwise, the conservative imbalance on the Supreme Court will go on indefinitely. If you’re with me, chip in $10 or anything that is meaningful to you. Let’s fight for a well-qualified and thoughtful justice on the Supreme Court.
