I am too.

Breaking news, John:

Earlier today, news broke that Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer plans to retire at the end of the current term, which paves the way for President Biden and the Democratic-majority Senate to install a new judge in his place.

No Black woman has ever served on our nation’s highest court. That’s why I’m calling on President Biden to hold true to his campaign promise and nominate a Black woman to the imminent vacancy on the Court.

If you agree that it’s long past time for a Black woman to be called upon to serve on the Supreme Court, join me by adding your name to my petition to President Biden.

I’m grateful to Justice Breyer for his decades of honorable service to the people of this nation.

With reproductive rights, voting rights, and more on the Supreme Court docket, this is a critical moment for the administration.

The next justice should have a bold record of defending our nation’s highest ideals and equality and justice for all. I look forward to supporting President Biden’s nominee and her confirmation in the Senate.

In solidarity,

Barbara Lee
