Mitch McConnnell’s “misstatement” is nothing short of a dog whistle.  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌

Anthony Brown for Attorney General

Team,

Last week, the United States Senate failed to do their job and pass the monumental voting rights legislation that would secure our democracy and expand access to the ballot box.

Mitch McConnell tried to justify the GOP blocking the bill by making a morally repugnant dog whistle. He said, “African Americans are voting in just as high a percentage as Americans.”

African Americans are Americans, Senator McConnell. We're no less American than any other citizen in this country.

It was a clear dog whistle to Trump’s base and Republicans all across the country that they’re okay with suppressing the rights of Black and brown people to vote in this election. It highlights his and the rest of the Republican Party’s disregard for the rights that generations have fought for and millions of Americans rely on to make their voices heard in this country.

I would be the first Black Attorney General in Maryland history and that matters. But this race is bigger than just one person. Marylanders need an Attorney General who is a proven leader and that will fight for equality and justice for everyone.

Will you help me make history in Maryland and continue fighting for our right to vote as your Attorney General by sending in a donation to our campaign today?
