Dear John,
Today’s move by the Biden Administration to cancel Twin Metals’ mining leases next to the Boundary Waters is the biggest moment that the Campaign to Save the Boundary Waters has had in years.
Make a donation so we can fight until this wild and beautiful place is protected once-and-for-all.
This effort started almost a decade ago, when wilderness-edge businesses and residents began building a broad national effort to protect this Wilderness from the looming threat of sulfide-ore copper mining. Together we’ve built a powerful, strategic, and successful movement to protect America’s most popular Wilderness, and we’re winning. I want to be clear - this is not the end of our fight. The threat of Twin Metals and future sulfide-ore copper mining in the watershed of the Boundary Waters still looms.
This is a forever Wilderness, and we must keep working tirelessly until the entire watershed of the Boundary Waters and Voyageurs National Park is permanently protected.
Without a doubt, the mining industry -- including mining giants like Twin Metals’ parent company Antofagasta, one of the largest mining companies in the world – will use its considerable resources and influence to try and block the Boundary Waters protections we seek.
You can help us make this a forever wilderness. Your support is absolutely critical and will enable us to continue to do everything in our power to get protections for this wild and beautiful place across the finish line. Can we count on you to donate today? For the Wilderness, Ingrid Lyons Executive Director
P.S. You can help us make this a forever wilderness. Make a gift today.
