Friend – the Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol is running a full-court press to get honest answers from Donald Trump's closest allies. How precisely did each contribute to efforts to overturn the 2020 election?
The Committee just made a bold new move: They've subpoenaed Rudy Giuliani and other members of Trump's legal team who spread conspiracy theories about election fraud and filed bogus lawsuits challenging the results.
Giuliani was one of the most vocal promoters of Trump's baseless fraud allegations, spewing misinformation on cable news, at poorly-staged press conferences, in conversations with lawmakers – basically wherever and however he could.
Even worse, in a letter to Giuliani explaining their reasoning, the Committee said it has credible evidence that Giuliani attempted to "disrupt or delay the certification of the election results" and even urged Donald Trump to seize voting machines. These details are chilling.
Yet despite the undeniable evidence of wrongdoing that's revealed seemingly every day – and despite the blatant attacks Trump and his allies waged on our democratic institutions – nearly all extremist Republicans are still clinging to Trump.
That's why, with such slim Democratic majorities in Congress, I'm urging you once again to help me hold Donald Trump and his co-conspirators accountable. With every piece of damning information that comes out, we must continue to make our voices heard:
Do you believe Donald Trump and his allies – like Rudy Giuliani – should be held accountable for attempting to undermine our democracy? Click to add your name if you agree – I'm counting on 324 more Democrats to speak out before 11:59 p.m. tonight.
