Nobody dreams bigger and fights harder for gun safety in Washington D.C. than Rep. Lucy McBath.

Lucy was a flight attendant who became a gun-safety advocate after her son Jordan was shot and killed in 2012. In 2018, she decided she’d had enough with inaction in Congress after the Parkland shooting, so she dreamed big and decided to run in her home district – Georgia’s Sixth in the Atlanta suburbs.

Since winning that election, Lucy has fought hard – and spearheaded the passage of history-making gun safety reform legislation. In addition, she’s written bills that became new laws to help our veterans and improve our healthcare.

Lucy understands what we’re up against: a gun violence epidemic in our country. Here are just a few facts that really put it in context: Our firearm homicide rate is 25 TIMES HIGHER than comparable countries. During the last few years, the number of deaths in America has continued to climb even higher and higher – to 123 gun deaths a day in 2021.

And it’s not just the huge cost of lost lives – treatment for gun injuries in our country now costs more than $1 billion each year. How do we know this? In 2019, Lucy championed a push that allowed Congress to resume funding research on gun violence, after a 25-year hiatus.

Lucy is tireless. Lucy is fearless. She embodies what dreaming big and fighting hard are all about.
