We don’t have ANY Black women on the Supreme Court or in the Senate
John, we just got word that Stephen Breyer is retiring from the Supreme Court this year.
It is more critical than ever that Democrats unite to replace Justice Breyer with a progressive nominee who will protect reproductive freedom and working families.
But it's also not enough. President Biden and Democrats in Congress need to follow through on reforming the Courts — including ethics rules for justices, and expanding the court.
Even after we replace Breyer, Republicans will still hold at least 6 of the 9 seats on the Supreme Court, despite Dems winning the popular vote in 7 of the last 8 presidential elections.
Expanding the court is the only way to ensure that we can unpack the court -- and restore balance after Republicans have stolen so many seats.
President Biden has promised to nominate a Black woman to replace Breyer. It's long overdue. As a reminder, we also do not have any Black women currently serving in the Senate.
Help me fix that. Can you chip in to help send me to the Senate to shore up our majority and confirm SCOTUS nominees who will protect our rights?
