Hi John,

We’re five months out from the Democratic primary election in this race for PA-01, and less than a week away from our next end-of-month fundraising deadline.

I know that you probably get a lot of fundraising emails, so I wanted to make sure that you know where I stand on the issues — and most importantly, where I differ from Republican Brian Fitzpatrick.

Before I do, will you pitch in $10 or more to help us reach our January goal and build the resources necessary to prepare for the primary?

In Congress, I aim to prioritize the following issues:

Defending democracy at all costs: As a combat veteran and as an American, I will fight tooth and nail to defend our voting rights and democracy from the increasingly extreme Republican Party. I fully support the Freedom to Vote: John R. Lewis Act, and unlike Fitzpatrick, I will ‘defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.’

Comprehensive Healthcare: I support expanding the Affordable Care Act and giving Medicare the power to negotiate lower drug prices and cap prescription drug costs for seniors. As a fierce advocate for reproductive choice, I will vote for the Women’s Health Protection Act to codify Roe v. Wade into law. I will also pursue every avenue to address the deadly opioid crisis, and work with my Republican colleagues across the aisle to find compassionate solutions for this epidemic that has ravaged our communities.

The Environment: Climate change is not just an environmental problem – it is a threat to our national security. In Congress, I will support efforts to combat climate change, including supporting the Paris Climate Accord and legislation that will reduce carbon emissions and keep our natural resources, our lands, and our national parks clean and safe. I’ll do this while working to build climate-resilient infrastructure, create good-paying jobs, and ensure our communities have clean air and water.

Our vulnerable populations: seniors, veterans, working class families: I will defend Social Security, prevent dangerous cuts to Medicare, fight for more funding for veteran services, and support more affordable childcare and paid family leave. And I will hold corporations' feet to the fire to pay their fair share in taxes, just like the rest of us.

I believe we can achieve this together, if we flip this seat blue in November and send Fitzpatrick packing.

But the only way we get there is by reaching our goals along the way and winning this May’s primary. Help me do it by making a grassroots donation today.
