Hi John,
Advocates for Youth applauds Justice Stephen Breyer’s more than two decades on the United States Supreme Court.
As the Court continues to address the critical issues impacting young people, such as abortion justice, affirmative action, and equitable treatment for transgender youth, the President must not waste any time in naming a nominee.
Justice Breyer’s retirement presents an opportunity for President Biden to nominate the first Black woman to the United States Supreme Court. The omission of a Black woman on the highest court in the land is a glaring stain on our country's history. A Black woman's perspective is essential as the Court considers issues that deeply impact women, youth, people of color, and the most marginalized Americans.

The health and wellbeing of young people is on the line. The administration must take this opportunity and meet the moment with a bold and history-making nomination. Advocates for Youth stands ready to join young people in demanding a court that reflects the people most impacted by their rulings.
Thank you so much,
Debra Hauser
