Hey there, my name is Bryce, and I'm a proud small business owner in Adel, Iowa. Here's the story of how I came to own the Adel Family Fun Center, and how policies like the one Cory put out a few days ago, would help young entrepreneurs like myself.

I grew up bowling. In middle school, my friends and I would head over to the Adel Family Fun Center every Saturday for youth league. And once I was old enough to hold a job, I worked for Sandi, the owner at the time, doing anything and everything I could to learn more about the business.

A few years later, when I was getting close to the end of college, I was back home at the same bowling alley when Sandi approached me and said, "I don't know what your plans are, but I'm wanting to retire, and I always think of you when I think about who can run this place."

At that point, I didn't know what my plans were either, but I was at a crossroads. I had gotten my degree in education and had student loan debt I had to pay off, but owning the bowling alley I grew up in was an "astronaut dream" -- that thing you always dream of but realistically, don't believe will ever happen -- of mine.

I had a choice: move away from the community that raised me to work for a big business or the highest paying school districts, or take a risk to become an entrepreneur in my hometown.

I ultimately decided to come back to Adel, a place where I saw potential in economic prosperity. But applying for a bank loan at 23 years old, with student debt and no credit history, I was constantly turned down and turned away.

But as our next president, Cory Booker plans to give small businesses the resources they need to grow and compete without being trampled by giant corporations. It's something that could've helped me when starting out and that's why I've added my name to support his plan. Will you join me?

I was nearing the end of my known financial resources when a local bank right here in Adel took the risk and approved me for the loan I needed to purchase the bowling alley. It's how I was able to keep this 60-year-old business open to the community.

As the owner of a small business in a 5,000-person town in Iowa, I've seen firsthand the challenges that young entrepreneurs face.

I've seen the rural areas near Adel lose their community-centric philosophy as they've turned more suburban in the last 25 years or seen their population move to bigger cities. How national chains come into our surrounding communities and make it harder for local businesses that have been there for over 100 years to compete. I've seen my neighbors choose to work in big cities rather than return home after college as their parents had because of the job security they'll have.

Cory believes that "No one should have to leave their home to find economic opportunity in America." I am fortunate to say that the community I grew up in is the same community I currently live in, but that is not an option for far too many young people across the country.

I support Cory's plan because he's ready to fight for small businesses like mine and make it possible for all Americans, not just those in cities, to attain their astronaut dreams as I did. He knows that our economy does better when everyone has a stake in its success, and that means not leaving any community -- whether urban, rural, or somewhere in between -- behind.

Add your name if you agree that it's time for a president who supports small businesses in all corners of the country.
