Team
Donald Trump and members of the Trump Republican Party like to regularly invoke the word “patriot” in their political rhetoric — usually in sharp contrast to their actions.
When Chris and every one of his Senate Democratic colleagues voted to pass critical legislation to defend our democracy, not ONE Republican joined them to stand up and support voting rights. Not ONE!
Team, that’s why we’re reaching out to ask you to let us know whether you think it's patriotic for Republican state legislators to make it harder to access the ballot box and for Republicans in Congress to block efforts to protect voting rights in our democracy. It’s quick and we value your opinion! [[link removed]]
What is Patriotism? [[link removed]]
As the author of the original DISCLOSE Act to get dark money out of politics, Chris has been a longtime champion of protecting our democracy from the influence of big money special interests and billionaire SuperPacs. He’s never been afraid to stand up for what's right.
Mitch McConnell on the other hand has been the #1 cheerleader for the notorious 5-4 Citizens United decision and has led the fight AGAINST restricting dark money in our politics. So it's no surprise that McConnell has been determined to get Maryland's Republican Governor to run against Chris and, according to Larry Hogan, saying it’s his "patriotic duty"!
That seems to be a pretty twisted way to invoke 'patriotism' — but we want to know what you think.
Please take a few minutes to share your thoughts! [[link removed]]
Thank you.
