“Our focus is to create a more equitable future in this community so everyone can succeed.”
Carla Vargas Jasa, president and CEO of Valley of the Sun United Way | The Community Collaborative, episode 36
Hi John,
While many of us talk about the significance of DEI, DE&I or DEAI, what about the business case for diversity, equity, inclusion, and what it means for business and organizations’ success.
In early 2020, Valley of the Sun United Way began implementing DEAI (Diversity, Equity, Access, Inclusion) into our goals to answer to our community’s top priorities. The goals we set quickly changed due to COVID-19, but our commitment to DEAI and our goal to create a more equitable future did not.
Carla Vargas Jasa, president and CEO of Valley of the Sun United Way, sat down with Social Television Network (STN) host, Eric Sperling and President and CEO of the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Valley of the Sun United Way board member, Monica Villalobos to discuss the importance of DEAI to a business’ bottom line.
DEAI is woven throughout MC2026, our five-year plan for Mighty Change in Maricopa County, which is essential to close gaps and increase access for often marginalized communities. |
Stay tuned for more episodes, where we’ll continue the conversation around our community’s most pressing issues and how we, as a community, can work toward creating Mighty Change in Maricopa County. |
