John
Climate scientists are issuing a dire new warning: The global cocktail of chemical pollution now threatens the stability of the ecosystems on which we all depend.

The warning comes in a new study recently published in the Environmental Science & Technology journal.

In the study, scientists referenced plastics as of deep concern as well as 350,000 synthetic chemicals, including pesticides, antibiotics, and industrial compounds, because of how deeply they have penetrated our ecosystems. Plastic pollution is found in locations as diverse as Mount Everest and the ocean’s depths.

The study concludes chemical pollution has crossed a “planetary boundary,” a point at which human-made changes to the Earth push it outside of the stable environment the planet has enjoyed the past 10,000 years.

Chemical pollution is now the 5th of 9 planetary boundaries that scientists say we have crossed, joining global heating, the destruction of wild habitats, loss of biodiversity, and excessive nitrogen and phosphorus pollution.

John, as scientists and environmentalists call for immediate international action on plastics and chemicals, SEEC members of Congress continue pushing for an end to our national dependency on plastics.

SEEC members know the impact of plastics on our planet may be irreversible without swift legislative and executive action. Will you show your support for SEEC members who are speaking out with a donation today? [

While climate change deniers continue to bury their heads in the sand, SEEC members of Congress are urgently pressing congressional colleagues and the Biden administration to take more robust measures to end our reliance on plastics.

Your donation today, John, will let our SEEC members know you’re standing with them AND help elect other SEEC members to Congress.

Thanks to your help in 2020, SEEC PAC was able to re-elect over 95% of our pro-environment members to the U.S. House of Representatives — defying the odds on a night where Democrats lost seats. Now we are counting on you to help our SEEC members pass climate, clean energy and environmental justice policies in the 117th Congress while we undo the damage of the Trump Administration.
