Experts call it 'the worst case scenario'? ? ? ? The story is still developing. The Keystone Pipeline has burst in North Dakota, spilling more than 383,000 gallons of oil into nearby wetlands.

The Keystone pipeline carries tar sands oil ? a particularly dirty mixture of clay, water, and heavy oil. When it spills into wetlands it sinks in, making it virtually impossible to clean up.

We need your help. The company that operates the pipeline, TC Energy Corp (formerly TransCanada), is attempting to brush this under the rug and expand the pipeline to new areas. The Trump administration recently gave the expansion ? called Keystone XL ? a green light.

There's still a short window to stop that from happening. In light of the spill, property owners along the planned construction route are preparing lawsuits to block new construction. We need to be throwing up every possible roadblock to the pipeline ? we're asking every LCV member to pitch in to make that possible.

A donor is triple matching every contribution right now ? even $5 is enough to make a difference.

We're turning to our members to make this campaign possible. A donor has agreed to triple match every contribution through the end of the month ? please, pitch in today ? [link removed]

This is the fourth time Keystone has spilled large amounts of oil. With each spill, initial estimates were drastically lower than the actual damage ? this is bad, and it's going to get worse.

Friend ? I want you to know, this isn't the only urgent environmental fight we're up against right now. The EPA just announced it will allow coal companies to leave toxic waste sitting in storage ponds, where it can seep into our groundwater and nearby water bodies. And Trump just pulled the U.S. out of the Paris Climate Agreement.

What happens next is up to the environmental movement. We have a real shot at stopping Keystone XL. We CAN hold the EPA to its mission. We CAN hold ourselves to the promises of the Paris agreement, whether Trump likes it or not. But it will only happen if we organize in a major way, and only if we do it now.

That's why we're turning to you, friend. If everyone reading this email pitched in ? even just $5 ? we'd blow through our fundraising goal in seconds.

URGENT: Donate today and your contribution will be triple matched ? [link removed]

Thank you ? for everything that you do. We're facing relentless attacks from the Trump administration ? but we've got a real shot at winning thanks to your support.

Sincerely,
