Earlier this year, we were excited to break the news of our merger with New American Economy to form an even more powerful American Immigration Council.
I’m pleased to share the latest update in that process, which is a new article just published in Inside Philanthropy that takes a deep dive into the merger – including the history, process, and strategic vision for the newly combined organization.
Nonprofit mergers are rare, but they shouldn’t be, and we’re excited at the opportunities this process will bring you and the communities we serve.
“Their union is a rare example of a step that several grantmakers told me they support, even try to encourage, yet remains rare across much of the nonprofit sector,” writes Inside Philanthropy reporter Michael Kavate.
“In this case, the decision to combine forces was sparked by the potential for greater impact, as well as the organizations’ similarities and complementary programs,” Kavate continues. “American Immigration Council’s litigation, policy and advocacy work can now benefit from the data expertise of New American Economy’s research team, and from NAE’s arts and culture staffers, who can tell the migration stories the AIC’s lawyers know intimately.”
Our work as this new, more powerful organization is just beginning.
