Amanda Makki
Amanda Makki for FL-13
As an infant, Makki and her family escaped an oppressive religious regime in Iran after the Revolution in 1979, to come to America. With the little resources they could quickly scrape together, they escaped to come to the Land of Opportunity, where anyone with a dream and a good work ethic could become successful. While Makki’s father studied to become a surgeon, her mother was a childcare provider and delivered Yellow Pages to provide the family’s income. Makki witnessed her parents drive to succeed and commitment to the American Dream, which motivated her to start working at the young age of 15.

Congressional Partners Spotlight:

Rep. Virginia Foxx, NC-05
Rep. Virginia Foxx, NC-05
Congresswoman Virginia Foxx is a strong voice for North Carolina values and is a champion of conservative ideas. She is well-known for fighting to rein in wasteful government spending, reduce the national debt and jump-start economic growth. Virginia believes that we need to get the government out of the way by slashing burdensome taxes and red-tape. She knows that low taxes and American innovation will put more Americans back to work.
Congresswoman Foxx has been a long-time supporter of Maggie’s List and has again renewed her congressional partnership. Thanks for all you do for us.

Rep. Stephanie Bice, OK-05
Rep. Stephanie Bice, OK-05
In a few short years, Stephanie Bice has earned a reputation as one of Oklahoma’s most effective conservative leaders. Elected to the State Senate in 2014, Stephanie served for two years as Assistant Majority Floor Leader in the Oklahoma Senate and is Chair of Senate Finance Committee. Stephanie modernized Oklahoma’s liquor laws by engineering the first overhaul since 1959 when prohibition was repealed in Oklahoma. Hailed as a victory for consumers and for economic development, Stephanie’s efforts have expanded opportunities in Oklahoma. Now locally owned businesses can sell their products on-site resulting in dozens of new breweries, wineries and distilleries opening across the state and creating approximately 5000 new jobs. Congresswoman Bice has joined as a new Congressional Partner this year. Her leadership has encouraged other women to take the leap to public service.
