I’m Shelbie Swartz, the new Development Manager here at Battle Born Progress and the Institute for a Progressive Nevada! I’m so amped to be joining the team alongside the powerhouses you already know (hey, y’all) — it’s an honor to be here.

I’ve worked in tandem with Battle Born Progress for the last few years, whether it was working on Capitol Hill for Congressman Steven Horsford or here in Las Vegas within the labor movement. I’ve seen firsthand how CRUCIAL Battle Born Progress is leading the charge when it comes to keeping Nevada moving forward — and ensuring that the progressive movement has every resource it needs to fight for the people of our state and their fundamental rights. A little about me: I have two pups (Roxie and Ginger), I love to run, my favorite cafe is PublicUS, and my favorite podcast is Morbid! I grew up here in Las Vegas, and I started my career out as a journalist at the Chicago Tribune. I spent a few years in Washington, D.C., and then moved back home in 2020! I’m so grateful to be back in the city that raised me and to be able to fight for our state every day.

As a part of the Battle Born family, I’m now tasked with finding new, innovative ways to raise money for this movement and our organization, so you’ll be hearing from me (a lot) more moving forward! The work that Battle Born Progress does takes support from people like YOU — Nevadans on the ground who are willing to speak truth to power and hold people accountable. I am so grateful for every supporter of this organization already, and I am looking forward to getting to know each of you — and asking you to become monthly donors.
