It shouldn’t require a miracle for at-risk kids to succeed.  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌

Families living in poverty often need a hand to help prepare their kids for a lifetime of learning. Urge Congress to increase funding for home visitation programs!

Hi John -

Sometimes, parents need a little extra help to ensure they have the skills and resources they need to help their kids grow up and thrive. As an Early Childhood Coordinator with Save the Children, I see first-hand the benefits coaching parents living in challenging circumstances has on the health and well-being of their children.

One of my favorite parents is Rosa, a first-time mom who lives in a remote rural town in California. Her daughter Surena was born 3 months premature and weighed just over 1 pound. Surena spent her first months in a neo-natal unit at a children’s hospital, 60 miles from her family’s home.

Rosa felt isolated and alone before Surena’s birth. I was able to connect her with a nurse and high-risk infant services. We then worked closely with Rosa to start reading, talking and singing regularly to her daughter, laying a foundation of language and literacy skills for her child.

Now 4 years old, Surena is attending preschool and eagerly awaits getting her bag of books each week. She and her mom – who was inspired to finish her high school education – are also regularly attending the program’s parent-child groups.

In keeping with the miraculous progress her daughter has made since her premature birth, her family calls her “Millie,” short for Milagros, which means “miracle” in Spanish.

You can help create more miraculous outcomes for at-risk families throughout the U.S.

Please send a message today!

Rosa and Surena are just two of thousands of parents and kids in programs like these around the country. But the need is so much greater and thousands of kids are missing out.

That’s why we need you to contact your member of Congress and ask them to support new legislation that will increase funding for these critical programs.

Send a message to your member of Congress today asking them to double the funding for the Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting Program.

Thank you for being a voice for kids,

Diana Mata
