The Cost of Keeping What’s Left of Roe v. Wade Is Too High <[link removed]> – A recent poll <[link removed]> found that more than 60 percent of Americans believe that Supreme Court decisions are based more on the Justices’ political views than on the Constitution. Roe v. Wade is the quintessential example of decisions that make this result inevitable. The Court foisted a because-we-said-so decision on a volatile issue upon the country without even attempting to show that it comes from the Constitution. Those who want to hang onto it do not even try to defend it, and many even admit that the Court simply made it up; they got want they wanted and just want to keep it. Could there be a more political decision than that? There’s nothing left of the atrocity that is Roe v. Wade but the “essence” of a “very bad decision.” The cost of doing anything but abandoning it altogether is far too great. Heritage Expert: Thomas Jipping <[link removed]>

Biden’s COVID-19 Tests Plan: Too Little, Too Late <[link removed]> – President Joe Biden has a new plan on rapid, at-home COVID-19 testing, but as with much of his administration’s pandemic policy, the plan is convoluted, costly, and late. Making affordable, rapid at-home tests widely available empowers people <[link removed]> to learn their COVID-19 status. Instead of relying on mandates and compulsion, this approach equips people to make informed
decisions <[link removed]> for themselves and their families. It’s a good idea and would have been better if launched 18 months ago, or at least a year ago, before the steepest spikes in infections. Rapid tests got tangled in the Food and Drug Administration bureaucracy during the Trump administration, and the Biden administration wove <[link removed]> a web of czars, task forces, working groups, and advisory councils that snarled decision-making and garbled messaging. Heritage Expert: Doug Badger  <[link removed]>

Republican Lawmakers Accuse Biden Administration of Targeting Federal Employees Seeking
Religious Exemptions From COVID Vaccine <[link removed]> – Republican members of Congress are accusing President Joe Biden of targeting Americans seeking religious exemptions from the COVID-19 vaccine. “Your administration’s attempt to use the power of the federal government to single out Americans who object to the COVID-19 vaccine on religious grounds is inexcusable and must be withdrawn,” reads the letter, first obtained by The Daily Signal. The letter to Biden builds on a Jan. 11 report from The Daily Signal <[link removed]> that the Biden administration is testing out a policy in a small federal agency, the Pretrial Services Agency for the District of Columbia, that would likely serve as a model for government-assembled lists of Americans who object to the COVID-19 vaccines on
religious grounds.Heritage Experts: Sarah Parshall Perry <[link removed]>, GianCarlo Canaparo <[link removed]>, and Mary Margaret Olohan <[link removed]>

China’s Xi wins Biden-Putin cage match over Ukraine <[link removed]> – When the squabbling over Ukraine <[link removed]> concludes, it’s hard to see how China’s President Xi Jinping doesn’t come out on top. His counterpoint in the U.S., Joe Biden, lacks a clear strategy to ensure that the transatlantic community emerges from the latest standoff with Moscow in a stronger and more competitive position in the ring of global geopolitics. Heritage

EXCLUSIVE: Biologically Male Transsexual Tears Into Radicals Attacking Women’s Sports: ‘It Is Unfair to Expect Girls to Cede Their Hard-Won
Rights’ <[link removed]> – A biological male who identifies as transsexual tore into opponents of a bill protecting women’s sports, telling Indiana state
lawmakers Monday that “it is unfair to expect girls to cede their hard-won rights.” Following the testimony, 46-year-old Corinna Cohn <[link removed]> expressed frustration to The Daily Signal on Monday afternoon that “trans activism has become a zero-sum game.” “I am privileged to be able to live my life peacefully and enjoy a wide range of civil rights as a trans person,” Cohn said in a Twitter direct message, adding that “trans people enjoy privileges to live
as we do, but if we continue to cannibalize women’s rights, the backlash will be severe. Somebody needs to stand up for women and girls, and I feel compelled to do so since so few members of the transgender community have come forward to support them,” Cohn said. “It’s ironic that people who identify as women will not risk defending women against attacks on their rights. Heritage Expert: Mary Margaret Olohan <[link removed]>
