This Thursday, January 27, the San Francisco Planning Commission will have a hearing on a new housing plan just around the corner, and they need your input. This plan will decide how well San Francisco can address the crises of displacement and affordability over the next eight years. Please take a minute to send an email asking the Planning Commission to include the following policies:
- Streamlining housing approvals to reduce building costs and make new homes available for residents sooner.
- Prioritizing new housing for high-opportunity neighborhoods on the west side, where low-income and BIPOC communities have historically been excluded.
- Pursuing a social housing program that builds high-quality housing for people of all income levels.
From Urban Environmentalists:
“This update represents a significant change from the 2014 update, with a focus on racial & social equity and the need to create 82,000 housing units by 2031.”
