But from crumbling roads and failing public transit systems, to streets and highways crowded with carbon-emitting vehicles that threaten the health of our communities, the need to advance transportation justice is more critical than ever.
That’s why Ayanna just re-launched the Future of Transportation Caucus with her colleagues in Congress — to build more equitable, accessible, and sustainable transit systems.
But making these transportation systems a reality will require massive public support for reimagining transit as an essential public good.
Our communities deserve a bold, progressive vision for transportation — one in which everyone can affordably, reliably, and safely reach their destinations, that centers the needs of working people, expands mobility, and leaves no one behind.
It’s time we challenge the status quo by revisiting the core assumptions and policies underlying our transportation system — and we do that by reimagining transportation solutions that will help us achieve economic, racial, health, and environmental justice.
