Hello,
Hi there — I’m Tabitha, founding president of the Rutland Area Branch of the NAACP. From day one, Peter’s campaign has been committed to protecting the individual and civil rights of Vermonters and all Americans. Let me explain why I’m endorsing his campaign for U.S. Senate.
There is no other candidate anywhere in the state of Vermont with the level of success, experience, and knowledge that he brings to the table. Over the decades, I have watched him navigate Washington focused on meeting the needs of everyday people through no-nonsense legislative proposals.
Here at home, Peter has made it a priority to connect with Vermonters. As president of the Rutland Area Branch of the NAACP, I got used to local and state level leaders attending special meetings during election years when they wanted to get our support. But Peter always stood out to me because he didn’t do that. He came to several meetings — NOT during election years. He came because he cared and wanted to know what was going on. His interest in our wellbeing was and still is genuine.
I have been on the frontlines of fighting for racial justice, and I’m honored to join Peter’s team. His desire to understand the experiences of Vermonters is authentic and, on a personal level, I have felt it. When my family dealt with racist harassment, he reached out to see how I was doing. Long after the papers and press were over, he was there to ask about us. How many federal legislators do you know who will do that?

There’s a lot at stake this election, which is why it’s so important that we elect Peter to the Senate. There is a saying that goes “Be careful of people who are always talking about who they are. A lion will never have to tell you it’s a lion.” Peter Welch is that kind of a leader. We just need to look at his track record to know that he is the kind of leader who, in polarizing times, will move forward with a calm and level head and get the job done. It is his actions that prove that Peter Welch is, in fact, a lion.
There’s a lot on the line this November, from protecting our democracy to fighting for voting rights for all Americans. Working families in Vermont and across the country are facing multiple crises, so it’s up to us to come together now and make sure we keep the Senate blue.
We can get this done, but only if we do it together — the Vermont way.
Pitch in what you can to help build the team necessary to elect Peter to the Senate.
Thanks for all you do,
Tabitha Moore
