Jack,
Here in New Mexico, we’re committed to protecting your vote and making sure all voices are heard. But other states across the US are passing laws that make it EVEN HARDER to vote. Without national action, some voters are going to get left behind.
This week I went on MSNBC to talk about why we need equal access to the ballot box across the country. Without a bare minimum standard, restrictive and discriminatory voting laws will continue to silence the voices of our fellow Americans.
Do you think there should be federally mandated protections for voting rights across the country?

On the anniversary of the insurrection, Governor Grisham and I introduced a bill to strengthen voting rights in NM. Our bill includes expanding online voter registration, providing further protections for Native voters, making Election Day a state holiday, and extending the early voting period. We’re doing everything we can to make sure you can vote safely and easily, and we’re ensuring we protect ballot integrity while we do it. Unfortunately, not all states can say the same. We need national voting rights protection NOW.
Thank you,
Maggie
