In 2021, a diverse, multigenerational coalition of voters turned out in record numbers to support Biden’s bold progressive and pro-immigrant vision for our country. With Americans of all backgrounds engaging in our political process, it’s increasingly urgent that we secure our voting rights.
But last week, a GOP filibuster blocked key voting rights legislation.
Along with shattering any hope of changing the rules of the filibuster, a minority of senators hindered this urgently needed progress.
Restrictive anti-voting bills that target communities of color are gaining traction in states across the country. We can’t afford to have obstacles like the filibuster in our way. We must ensure the will of the majority of voters is not diluted.
We must not let the filibuster become the tool used to extinguish our democracy. Sign on today to let the Senate know that the filibuster cannot stand.
As long as the filibuster exists, Congress can continue to undermine overwhelmingly popular policies like the Freedom to Vote Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act. , the midterm elections are coming up, and if we don’t have a system that honors the majority vote, we risk losing all our hard-won progress.
To build a 21st-century immigration system and return power to the people, the filibuster must go.
