It’s official: Chesa Boudin was just elected the new District Attorney of
San Francisco!

This is what it looks like when the will of the people wins. Against all
odds, against the Democratic political machine, and against massive
spending by the police union, San Francisco elected a real reformer who
will transform the justice system from the inside out.

District by district, we are turning the tide against mass incarceration,
the criminalization of poverty, and racist policing – toward real justice.

With very few votes remaining to be counted, Chesa pulled ahead by 8,465
first choice votes and by 2,568 ranked choice votes. We know that we’re
going to have to keep fighting tooth and nail for every vote in each of
our upcoming district attorney races.

We’re going to face more big-monied players who will spend massive amounts
to protect prisons and police.

But today showed that when people build an exciting grassroots campaign
together, when lots of people volunteer and contribute, we can win.
