John,

Last week, an elevator door opened in a Capitol office building as a group of orthodox Jewish visitors waited to make their way to a meeting. Stepping out of the elevator, Rep. Lauren Boebert confronted the visitors—inexplicably asking this group of Americans if they were doing “reconnaissance” while in the Capitol:
You would be right wondering what exactly this is supposed to mean, but it obviously isn’t meant to be good. The extreme right wing, led by Boebert, Marjorie Taylor Greene, and Donald Trump, often wraps up their anti-Semitism and racism in thinly-veiled “jokes.” They’re neither funny nor good natured.
