Postal workers are rallying to save the post office.

Dear Friend,

The Board of Governors overseeing the U.S. Postal Service just acted to solidify Postmaster General Louis DeJoy’s position, and workers are fighting back.

Postal employees gathered in the cold outside USPS headquarters to protest the installation of a DeJoy ally as chair of the Board of Governors. The workers say that since DeJoy was appointed by Donald Trump, working conditions have become untenable -- all part of the postmaster general's plan to destroy the post office.(1)

The Senate is about to hold hearings for President Joe Biden’s nominees to the USPS Board of Governors, and we need to ensure that they are committed to firing DeJoy and fixing the post office. We are running out of time to make our senators hear us, and we need your help.

Will you chip in $5 to Courage California and help demand that Congress save the U.S. Postal Service?

DeJoy was specifically appointed to destroy the USPS -- Trump admitted he wanted to guarantee that mail-in ballots wouldn’t reach their destinations.(2)

Moreover, DeJoy made his fortune in shipping companies that are direct competitors to the USPS, and he has instituted a 10-year plan to doom the agency to failure.(3)

Postal workers -- known for showing up in rain, snow, heat, and gloom -- have been caught in the middle. DeJoy dismantled sorting machines and stopped overtime pay, but then instituted a hiring freeze, putting unreasonable expectations on the employees left over.(4) An investigation even found that managers were shorting employee paychecks, something DeJoy knew about.(5)

Since he began his tenure, on-time mail delivery has fallen 40%, hurting Americans who depend on the post office daily.(6)

The Board of Governors is responsible for holding DeJoy accountable to the service of the American public, but they are protecting him, instead. That’s why the Senate must install two new members who will reverse DeJoy’s fracturing of one of our oldest services.

We’ve helped send more than 200,000 letters to Congress demanding that our representatives shore up the USPS and stop Louis DeJoy, and we need to ramp up that campaign!

Donate to Courage California and help save the post office!

Yours in the fight for our mail,

Irene, along with Amber, Angela, Annie, Caitlin, Isidra, Jay, Lindsay, LisaMarie, Raquel, and Scottie (the Courage team)
