You helped make 2021 one for the record books, with higher resolution votes, more accountability through new and ongoing program initiatives, and more groundbreaking reports to move corporate accountability to center stage. The Invest Your Values ([link removed]) transparency tools at As You Sow connected with more investors, fueling sustainable change. There’s so much more ahead in 2022, but first –


EIGHT Important Majority Votes in 2021!

Shareholders are leading the way towards sustainable and equitable business practices across every social and environmental issue. At American Express, AutoZone, DuPont, FedEx, General Electric, Union Pacific, Sysco, and Booking Holdings, shareholders all spoke up with decisive majority votes in 2021, on issue areas from climate change to plastic pollution to workplace diversity and gender equality.

Shareholder votes at any level can create change – most corporate management pays attention when even 10% or 20% of their shareholders express concern – and corporate boardrooms and CEOs really take note when shareholder votes reach a majority level. Check out our website ([link removed]) for a listing of all 2021’s resolutions and results – and we’ve got 78 shareholder resolutions already filed for 2022, with 26 more in the works.


30 Years of Tenacity, Perseverance, and Expertise Holding Corporations Accountable

2022 is As You Sow’s 30th anniversary. The widespread credibility and trust we enjoy now is something we’ve earned with every action over the last three decades – every negotiation, every resolution, every report, every press mention – and with every commitment and forward-looking action we’ve secured from a corporation.
One of our year-end donors said they gave to As You Sow because what we achieve together is so much greater than working alone. And it’s true. The As You Sow staff brings expertise, cutting-edge ideas, and perseverance to the table, but it all moves forward only with the shareholders, donors, colleagues, and supporters who partner with us – with you. I checked our records, and some of you have been As You Sow partners for as far back as our records go! We have to earn that kind of loyalty and support, year after year.

So here’s to you – to all of you – and to the change for good we’ve created together over the last 30 years. And to the change we’ll create in the next thirty! We’re not stopping until we’ve truly secured a safe, just, and sustainable world for all, in which protecting the environment and human rights is central to corporate decision-making.

We’re going to celebrate with a party in October – fingers crossed COVID allows an in-person event. You’ll get your invitation later this year. We really hope you can join us!


Align Your Investments with Your Values

Investors across the world, without knowing it, are profiting from the worst climate polluters and racial injustice. Mutual funds and ETFs invest in a wide array of securities, and each fund can contain hundreds of holdings. The Year Ahead

There’s no time to rest on laurels – 2022 demands more of all of us. We started 30 years ago with a bold vision to “seed” change in corporate decision-making. We have big plans for 2022, seeking solutions that work for all stakeholders. We’ve already withdrawn four resolutions, in exchange for substantive, publicly-announced progress from the company. We’ll be bringing all our research, data, skills, and expertise to the critical issues facing us. We have the tools in our quiver, thanks to you, to catapult sustainable business practices forward. We can do it, together, all of us. Thanks for joining in – you’re the best part of the effort!
