John,
Republicans are making it clear that attacking the voting rights of Minnesotans will remain a top priority during the upcoming legislative session.
Speaking with members of the press yesterday, MN GOP House Minority Leader Kurt Daudt confirmed he intends to make passing a suppressive Voter ID bill “a priority for Republicans,” even though Minnesotans rejected it at the ballot almost a decade ago.
Since the deadly insurrection at our nation’s capitol on January 6, 2021, Republican lawmakers have seized on Donald Trump’s Big Lie to introduce more than 400 bills across the country to restrict voting rights. In at least 18 states, they’ve enacted them. And make no mistake: If the MN GOP flips us red in November, Minnesota will be next.
If there’s one fight we can’t afford to lose, it’s this one. And after last week, it’s clear this fundamental battle for our democracy will come down to the states, which is why I asked Nora if I could reach out directly today:
Will you make your first contribution to our 2022 Voting Rights Defense Fund today? We’re counting on at least 500 DFLers to step up by Friday.
