Dear John,
“How am I going to pay my rent?”
“Do I choose between paying for groceries or getting my kid a coat?”
These are the questions that families in America are grappling with as folks in Congress debate passing the Build Back Better Act and try to figure out the best way to move us forward as a nation. One thing is clear: families need help now.
With COVID rates and inflation climbing, many households are in danger of being left without help this winter. They need affordable housing, warm clothes, and regular meals. They need the resources that help them get through this trying time.
Tell Senators to Pass the Build Back Better Act TODAY. [[link removed]]
Evidence shows that the provisions in the Build Back Better Act work. For example, over the last year we have seen the power of the advanced monthly Child Tax Credit (CTC) payments [[link removed]] in reducing the child poverty rate. With each month, more and more children were kept out of poverty—as of December 2021, the number grew to 3.7 million children. Without the extension of the expanded CTC, the child poverty rate is due to increase for every racial and ethnic group. Almost 10 million children will be thrown back or thrust deeper into poverty.
We can't leave families to hang in the balance. Urge Congress to show up for families NOW. [[link removed]]
