Volunteer Spotlight
Our team of more than 25,000 volunteers make the work we do at NextGen possible. Hear from one of these incredible volunteers, Farrah R., on why she’s involved with NextGen:
Farrah R. She/They: "People in power are trying to take away our basic rights away everyday. Young people will be impacted the most by these decisions they're making. With NextGen America, I can make equitable change and fight to do what's right."

What's going on out there?
There’s so much going on in our country, it feels hard to keep up. Don’t fret -- we’ve got you covered. Here are some key issues happening across the country, and how you can help:
- The Build Back Better Act: The Build Back Better Act would create a safety net for millions of Americans, but it’s stalled in the Senate. We can’t let the Build Back Better Act fail -- we need to urge our senators to pass it now.
- Voting rights legislation: Republicans in Congress have consistently blocked bills that defend our right to vote --most recently the Freedom to Vote Act and John Lewis Voting Rights Act. But the fight doesn’t end here --Democrats in the Senate have the power to pass legislation like the Freedom to Vote Act and protect our voting rights by abolishing the filibuster. By ending the filibuster, Democrats can keep their promise and ensure voting rights are accessible to all of us.
- Student loan payment pause: Because of the hard work of organizers and activists, President Biden extended the student loan payment pause until May 1. While that’s a great start, our work isn’t done. We need President Biden to fully cancel all federal student loan debt.
You’re all caught up! You can take action on all of these issues with our action hub right here: [link removed]
Staff new year’s resolutions
With the new year finally here, our staff has some 2022 resolutions!
- Kate L., Managing Director: “My goal/resolution for 2022 is to build at least 5 minutes of deep stretching into my day.”
- Simone R., Arizona Organizing Manager: “My New Year's Resolution is to say "yes" to more opportunities when they present themselves. While the pandemic has turned our worlds upside down, I have found that it has sacrificed my social life for survival mode and I would like to go back to saying yes to Zoom Happy Hours and safe hangouts! Life is too short to hide away from the people you love!”
- Olivia G., Distributed Organizing Manager: “Learn new things! I'd like to start learning a new language, take salsa dance classes, and read 1 book each month.”
- Jocelyn K., Texas Operations Manager: “My New Year's resolution is to be better to myself. I want to focus a little more on taking care of myself mentally and physically and make it a priority to find time on a busy calendar for self-care when I can.”
Who we are
At NextGen America, our mission is to empower young voters to engage in the political process and ensure our government is responsive to the largest and most diverse generation in American history. We are harnessing the power of young voters to reshape the political outcome of our country -- not for an election cycle but for a generation.
