On Wednesday night, House minority leader Kevin McCarthy raised $9.5 million dollars from a fundraiser at the Trump Hotel in Washington, D.C.

To put it in perspective, before Wednesday night’s fundraiser, McCarthy’s record haul from one fundraising event was $350,000. McCarthy raised more than twenty-seven times his previous record.

We’ve known for a while now that the 2022 midterms are going to be an incredible challenge for Democrats. Now, with each additional dollar the GOP raises, our chances of winning become slimmer.

Republicans like Kevin McCarthy are funded by dark money donors and corporations with deep pockets. And thanks to Citizens United , we know that there’s plenty more money in the pipeline right now to fund the GOP’s attempted takeover of the House.
