John, I’m about to ask you to chip in $25 or more towards my end-of-month goal, but first I want to explain why representing Coastal Virginians in Congress matters so much to me.
I’m by no means a career politician, but at a young age I knew I wanted to pursue a career in service to my country.
That’s why I joined the Navy when I was 17 years old – at a time when, just 17 years prior, women weren’t even allowed to serve.
I went on to be one of the first women ever accepted into the Naval Academy’s nuclear power program. And in the two decades that followed, I was deployed to the Middle East, overseeing eight nuclear reactors and the training of all 700 nuclear operators onboard.
When I retired, I wanted to focus on being a mom and managing my small business, but I couldn’t shake the desire to do more for the country I had served for the past two decades.
I couldn't sit idly by as the country I loved sank into a terrible rut of political divisiveness, inaction, and contempt for our fellow Americans.
That’s why I first ran for Congress in 2018. The odds were stacked against me, but thanks to my grassroots team I was able to narrowly defeat my Republican opponent.
I’ve now served two terms in Congress, but my work is still unfinished. Republicans have made it increasingly difficult to pass meaningful legislation on protecting the right to vote, combating climate change, or raising the federal minimum wage.
My race for VA-02 is the most competitive in the nation, and it could very well decide the fate of the Democratic House majority. So to stay in Congress fighting for you, I need your help.
Will you chip in $25 or more today to help me reach my end-of-month goal before it’s too late?
