Hi John,

Polar bears, sea turtles in the Gulf of Mexico, whales in Cook Inlet, and many other imperiled species are being pushed to the brink by Big Oil.

Yet inexplicably, the Biden administration is turning America's public lands over to the oil and gas industry at rates we've never seen — not even from Trump.

We're ramping up our fights to save wildlife from the fossil fuel industry. Please help with a gift to the Saving Life on Earth Fund.

President Biden pledged to reduce U.S. climate emissions.

But our analysis shows that one year in, his administration has issued one-third more public-lands drilling permits than Trump.

The 3,557 permits handed out by the Bureau of Land Management in a single year beat Trump by nearly 1,000 — and come at a time when wildfires, droughts and storms are shattering ecosystems and making it impossible for wildlife to find safe harbor.

We know what happens when oil and gas companies drill: Wildlife suffers and our coasts get soaked in oil — as they did last fall in Southern California.

Biden promised to end new oil and gas drilling and leasing on federal lands and water. He has the power to stop that activity today — which is what we just petitioned him to do.

This is a key part of the Center's work: shining a spotlight on how the government is threatening wildlife and public lands, and offering a better path.

We've taken legal action to protect Cook Inlet beluga whales from oil drilling there.

We launched a separate lawsuit to save polar bears from oil industry harms along the Arctic's western plain.

We're also in court to save marine wildlife in the Gulf of Mexico, site of the largest oil and gas lease sale in U.S. history: more than 80 million acres.

We'll do all we can to save wildlife. Now we're pushing Biden to do the same by using the powers at his disposal.

To save life on Earth, we must end the business-as-usual approach to climate and protect the habitat of species that desperately need it to survive.

Please support this work with a gift to the Saving Life on Earth Fund.
