Hi John,
I’m only $237 away from today’s fundraising goal! Can you rush a small $3 donation now to help me get there before midnight? Thank you! [[link removed]]
Did you know there are 28 empty homes for every homeless person in the US? Yes, it’s true: we could house everyone in this country with buildings we already have.
In many high-cost urban areas, of course, there are empty buildings but not enough.
We need to solve the housing crisis by applying a decision hierarchy that addresses the most needy first and the least needy last.
The #1 need: stop people from freezing to death on the street.
We can do that by housing homeless people in empty homes and buildings. After that, we can assess the gap and build the missing housing, for everyone from people with no income to people with middle-class incomes.
We do that by having the federal government invest in housing on a massive scale, including millions of units of publicly owned housing. That’s what I’ll fight for in Congress. I might be one of the few voices calling for it at first, but that’s better than nothing.
Combined with direct action outside of Congress, I believe we can build the pressure needed to end the housing crisis in this country. A year ago, I risked arrest occupying empty buildings to get more housing for our homeless community in Tacoma.
Donate now to send me to Congress, so I can combine political action and direct action to fight for an end to our housing crisis! I’m only $237 short of today’s goal. [[link removed]]

At its core, the housing crisis is simple: we need to get people in homes they can afford. We need to stop people from freezing to death on the street, and we need to provide everyone with affordable housing.
That’s what I’ll fight for in Congress, but I need your help to get there, so please give right here:
