John -- you’ve probably seen some of the recent headlines about how some are surprised that redistricting in many states has been fair and not a “fiasco” for Democrats. That’s true, and we have supporters like you to thank.

But we have to put this in context. See, experts are comparing this year’s redistricting to the 2011 cycle. 2011 redistricting was AWFUL -- and while we’ve had a number of successes, Republicans in some states are actually doubling down on those 2011 gerrymanders . Here’s how a Brennan Center for Justice expert put it:

“By shoring up last decade’s gerrymanders, line drawers have breathed new life into distorted maps and ensured that elections in 2022 and beyond will be skewed, uncompetitive and deeply biased against voters of color. ”

Here’s the deal: We’re not satisfied with a redistricting cycle that’s “less bad” than the truly terrible 2011 cycle. We think all Americans deserve fairness. If you do, too, we could use your help right now. While more than half of the states have already adopted maps, we’re still working in the remaining ones to secure fair districts. And in some of the states where Republicans have already gerrymandered, our affiliate is supporting voters in lawsuits to challenge the maps.

So there’s a lot of work left, and we need your help to complete it. Can you chip in today? Because “not a fiasco” isn’t good enough!
