Hello,

Another week on the campaign trail, and a good one at that!

I want to thank all of our amazing volunteers throughout Iowa who are doing the heavy lifting in gathering petition signatures to put my name on the ballot. COVID-19 sensibilities have compelled many party chairs to hold their off-year caucuses virtually; hence, an ‘all hands on deck’ assist from volunteers is making this go smoothly. Yay! Stay safe everyone and please email us at [email protected] if you can help with petitions in your county.

January 22nd was the anniversary of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision. Today, forty-nine years later, a minority in this nation wants to roll back women’s rights. Strange how some people keep regurgitating this issue in America and even buck the rest of the world’s acceptance of the novel concept of women being responsible for their reproductive rights. We shouldn't still be having this conversation in 2022. As your Senator, I will support a woman's right to choose and I will reject any judicial nominee who threatens that choice. Time to codify Roe v. Wade, as well.

We were out and about in Carroll, Boone, and Clinton Counties this week. If your county party is holding any upcoming events or if you are interested in hosting a fundraiser or a meet and greet, please email us at [email protected].

In case you missed it, here is a link to some local coverage of my visit to Jasper County from the Newton Daily News.

And it is always a pleasure to sit down with newly elected Windsor Heights City Councilmember Michael Libbie of Insight on Business and sneak in a gourmet lunch (a far cry from my ‘whatever is in my bag chow-down session). If you are interested in what I've been reading or what I would be doing if I were not running to defeat Chuck Grassley, please listen.

For those of you in the Davenport area, be sure to tune in to WHBF this Sunday morning, January 30th at 10:30 am as I shared my plan to defeat Chuck Grassley with WHBF Fox news anchor Jim Niedelman.

Please stand by as we have more endorsement announcements coming your way soon. And here is a quick reminder of our upcoming stops this week:

I hope to see you on the campaign trail to the winner’s circle. Please stay safe, healthy, and considerate…and do the neighborly thing by checking in with those in your circle and beyond. Winters can be rough in Iowa, but that’s part of what makes us so tough!

Thank you for reading this.

Sincerely,

Mike Franken, VADM, U.S. Navy (ret.)
